2nd opinion: You can always have another provider evaluate the process and ask for a strep test if that is your concern.Most sore throats are viral and some represent MONO, all of which may have significant soreness and not respond quickly to treatments.

Follow up/mgt: It is important to have this evaluated. If you have a photo of your throat, that would be helpful. Please monitor your temperature, warm liquids and throat lozenges may alleviate the pain. If you have been exposed to smoke, it is especially important to be checked.
