Stuck in healing : The hypertrophic scar gets stuck in an inflammatory stage of healing. This stage is characterized by red, raised, itching, painful scars. Steroid injections calm the inflammation. Silicone gel sheeting can also be beneficial. Occasional the scars have to be excised or revised. Hope that helps.
