Bacterial plaque: it is usually formed by colonizing bacteria like Streptococcus, Fusobacterium, Actinomyces, Veillonella, and Treponema and possibly Bacteroides, Capnocytophaga, and Eikenella, just to name few. There is no record of who and when the the gingivitis was discovered.
