What reasons would a doctor put you forward for a bladder scan is the main reason cancer or can it be other reasons as well?

The main reason: depends on your symptoms and clinical findings. There are many reasons to perform a bladder scan(ultrasound I presume), suspicion of cancer is just one of them.
