My husband has chronic pancreatitis and is going to have a blood test ca 19-9. why?

Tumor marker: Ca 19-9 is elevated in patients with pancreatic cancer, but it is not a good diagnostic marker. The idea may be to check that pancreatic cancer is not being overlooked in someone with chronic pancreatitis.
