A member asked:

Can you explain the difference between chronic yeast infections and recurring yeast infection? & which one needs prolonged treatment (6months-1year)?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

TomaytoTomatoPotayto: For practical purposes there is no difference. If you want to get picky chronic means all the time and recurring means it comes and goes (with therapy or without). Either could require prolonged therapy but it depends on where the infection is and a lot of other things to consider. But as far as therapy goes, you'd probably need prolonged therapy for either a chronic or recurring infection
