I have a power port. last infusion was 10/31/14. how often should i have it flushed now & what are the risks if i forget to have it flushed as needed?

Implanted ports: It can depend on the type of port that you have, but generally the implanted power ports need to be flushed once every four weeks when not in use. Failure to maintain the port can cause clots which decrease it's efficiency of flow as well as pose a risk of thrombosis (blood clot getting dislodged and loose into the blood stream).
