Nodules, normal labs: Hi. The only nodules that definitely are NOT cancer are hyperthyroid nodules (TSH would be suppressed to some degree, so labs not normal). Most nodules are associated with normal thyroid labs; most of these are benign, but the thyroid cancers are also among this group. The standard is to needle biopsy nodules 10 mm or greater in diameter; so normal labs only mean the nodule SHOULD be biopsied.
