Crack Tooth Syndrome: Some teeth have cracks that are too small to show up on X-rays and sometimes the cracks are under the gum. Cracked tooth syndrome is one of the most difficult dental problems to diagnose because the pain is not predictable.

Radiographs: Radiographs only show a part of the entire picture... they're not a crystal ball. Does the tooth have a large restoration? Has it ever been traumatized? It is vital (alive)? Are your teeth crooked? Is the tooth hitting your maxillary teeth prematurely? Any bone loss? These questions need to be explored before a meaningful answer can be given. Have an endodontist take a look.
