YES: Getting a filling is traumatic to the tooth and gums. Like setting a broken bone is traumatic, just not as bad. It will settle down in a couple of days.

Yes: Depending on the size and extent of the filling a little pain could very well be normal. If the cavity extended closer to the nerve of the tooth a bit pain is common, it can take some time for the tooth to heal after the trauma of drilling close to the nerve. The gums could be sore if the cavity extended to the surfaces in between the teeth and due to the filling process caused mild trauma.
