How come the fda makes it harder to get new drugs in us than in other countries?

Consumer protection: Fda sets standards and disclosure requirements to protect us consumers. It does slow the approval process, and is often not very efficient. That said, the process and reporting requirements do offer a bit of assurance that it is safe and effective (not just the manufacturer's claims and advertising.
