Does the fda have jurisdiction over us made drugs and cosmetics?

FDA: Fda, the food and drug administration, is a federal agency that was created to gaurantee the safety of food and prescription drugs in the United States. They also try to gaurantee the effectiveness of drugs, and require testing before a drug is approved for use to show that the product is both safe and effective. This is important for so called generic drugs, which don't require the same testing.
