What is this new drug fda approved by merrick used for? molnupiravir. it's an oral antiviral viral med. my son is in the hospital with covid-19 going to ask his pulmonary doctor would this be good to use or is this mostly used for outpatient?

Molnupiravir, manufactured by Merck, is only used for outpatient settings for mild to moderate case of Covid-19 infection, preferably in the first 3 days and not later than 5 days after symptoms appear. This medication should not have much effects for your son's illness.
