Well, type 2: If you do not have type 1 insulin requiring DM, then with the proper diet and exercise, and in your case, probably mild weight loss (depending on your height and BMI), you may be able to control and or even "stabilize" your Sugars to normal levels. Make sure you keep regular appts. with your Dr. and educate yourself all about Type 2 DM and the proper diet to follow. Best wishes.

None curable.: Diabetes is not curable, but type 2 (adult onset) is manageable to the point that it can be controlled without medications in some cases. Type 1 is due to a lack of insulin production, and there's nothing curative that can be done about that.

Type 2 adult onset: The one that comes later in life that has to do with obesity/overweight issues is the one that's most reversible & treatable.Once the weight is lost, the receptors can respond normally again to insulin, and control blood sugar levels. You are in the pre diabetic range now (5.7 to 6.4).You're young enough to make a difference quickly. See your doctor soon to goal plan diet/exercise regimens.

Diabetes: Type 2 diabetes has been seen to resolve after gastric bypass surgery for the morbidly obese (a BMI >40). You may keep your diabetes under control without medications with a proper diet, weight loss, and exercise. See your doctor and a diabetes nurse educator for a program tailored to your needs.
