It's the same: as for anyone else, eat less and exercise more to burn up more calories than you take in. Insulin administration will make this more difficult, and you might want to discuss with your doctor a gradual reduction in insulin dose as weight loss proceeds, but make sure glucose control remains appropriate.

Is it harder for diabetics type 1 to lose weight?

Yes and no: It is harder because they are on Insulin and Insulin stimulates appetite and often weight gain -- but it is still possible through careful diet and exercise. Check w/your nurse educators and dietitians.

Weight loss: .How long have you had type 2 diabetes and how much weight have you gained?
There are many good exercises and if there is a facility close to you, take a look and decide whether that is a good place for you to work out.
Your diet may also need attention. Go to "NuVal" on the web and find out a lot of information about which foods are good, not too bad, and no good for you.

The same: as anyone else -- eating less and exercising more. You have to burn off 3,500 calories to lose a pound. Try cutting out 250 calories a day to lost a pound every two weeks. It's not how fast your lose, but you need to learn to eat properly to not only lose the weight but keep it off the rest of your life. Good luck.

A 47-year-old member asked:
What are the best types of foods to eat to lose weight?

A balanced diet.: Probably the best way to lose weight is to eat a balanced diet with a controlled amount of food daily. That is, not too much extra food, and the food eaten being choice, like fruits, vegetables, and good meat(s)/protein sources, and whole grain breads/cereals for fiber. Exercise, in addition to this will cap off a complete, healthy effort to lose weight.
