Why do i have to take antibiotics if i don't have an infection after a wisdom tooth extraction?

Prevention: You may not get an infection, but the dentist/oral surgeon is having to take the antibiotics to hopefully prevent you from getting an infection which can impede healing. An extraction/oral cavity is loaded with bacteria, and anything that can be done to lesson the chance of infection is the correct protocol.
