Both can be hard: Neuroses (depression, anxiety, peronality disorders) and psychoses (schizophrenia, other types of psychoses) was an older way of dividing mental disorders not used for several decades. In general, neuroses were thought to be "less severe." however, level of impairment and response to treatment are the key issues, and some neuroses are much less treatment responsive than some psychoses.
