Few: There is no specialty for implants. However, you are best starting with the one who will be restoring the implant. Often this is a specialist in reconstruction - a Prosthodontist. This Dentist is the team captain and directs all treatment. Historically, the Oral Surgeon or Periodontist would place the implant, but any trained Dentist is allowed to. Remember, experience and training are critical.

They work together with your general dentist to determine the best type, placement and number of implants for your particular situation. Once they place the implant the general dentist designs and places the restoration that is anchored to the implant
