It depends,: if a healing cap was not in placed and the implant is under the gum tissue , then yes, you will be getting local anesthesia to expose the implant and place a healing cap. However, if the healing abutment is in place, then no anesthesia is necessary.

Yes: You will need minimal numbness to expose the implant. This is a very small, simple procedure, and you will be very comfortable, so don't worry about it. It should be much easier and even more comfortable for you than when you had your implant placed. Just think about how small the opening will be to get to the implant...it's very small. And, it's right below the gum...not far down. Don't worry.
