Arthritis: This refers to mild arthritis in the small joints in the back part of the neck. Arthritis is a normal process of getting older, but of course can cause pain in patients. NSAIDs (i.e. ibuprofen, Aleve) can be used for treatment, as well as spinal injections directly into the facet joints.
