?Abscess?: Otitis externa causes significant swelling of the ear canal but rarely a trues abscess. Abscesses are painful so your question "does if hurt?" suggests that it is not an abscess. Further antibiotic drops are usually used for infection of the canal from cellulitis of the canal. Being scared lowers your resistance (immune system) so rest assured that it does not sound like an abscess.
