A member asked:

My tsh level came 9.1, & my doctor said it is hyperthyroid. is my doctor right or wrong?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Heard wrong?: Hi. I strongly suspect your doctor said "HYPOthyroid", but they can sound similar. There are VERY rare cases of hyperthyroidism with a high TSH from pituitary tumors that secrete TSH, but we're talking RARE.What is your free T4? I would bet you have hypothyroidism. Good luck!
