Takes time: Stay on the antibiotics, take anti-inflammatories like aspirin or ibuprofen . The pain from tooth extraction can last for a couple of weeks sometimes. At three days you are still going to hurt and food will make it worse. Removal of the tooth was the treatment for the infection which can now drain. See dentist if there are signs of infection - increased redness, pus, swelling, fever or sharp pain

See dentist: call the extracting dentist about this. You should be starting to feel better after 3 days so have the dentist check you

Be patient: It is common to experience pain after tooth extraction. The pain may last for 3-6 days. If you experience severe pain 6 days after tooth removal, visit your dentist to rule out dry socket.

Healing: This is not really abnormal and can take some time to heal. If it lingers for more than 7 days or so, I would contact the dentist/oral surgeon whom removed the tooth

If your face: is swollen, tight, tender, hot to touch with discoloration, you need to see your dentist ASAP or go to the emergency room. Do not forget to take your pain meds and anti- inflammatory regularly. It might take a few days to a week to heal. If at all concerned, do not hesitate to call your dentist or PCP! You may need another antibiotic to treat a possible cellulitis / infection .
