Possibly however: It would be an excellent idea for you to be evaluated by a dentist &/or Otolaryngologist. There are several possibilities for jaw pain of which TMJ is only one and an exam is in order. In the meantime eat only soft foods, use warm compresses and take an anti-inflammatory until you can get an appointment.

TMJ?: Sounds like TMJ. See a TMJ expert. Any dentist can be a TMJ expert with the proper training and experience. Most commonly, oral surgeons, prosthodontists, and orofacial pain specialists. Ask your MD, your dentist and your dental society for referrals.
