some supplements (for exmaple: flax seed), say to take with meals. whats the purpose? is it okay to take with protein shake instead?

Flax seen in a shake: is fine. Be sure to use flax seed that you grind yourself. Pre-grounds gets rancid easily. Taking supplements or meds w/meals can buffer the impact of them in your stomach and help prevent GI symptoms. Peace and good health.
