The ureters are the: Tubes draining urine from the kidneys to the bladder. Ureteral obstruction causes the pelvis of the kidney to swell and bleeding, gross or microscopic, into the urine. Ct's with contrast; cystoscopy with retrograde contrast injection define local extent and anatomy. Urinary cytology sometimes prove cancer, but treatment usually involves removal of ureter and kidney.
