85 year-old friend has for 2 weeks had his temp < 36c 19 times out of 34 readings. i don't understand this inconsistency. wbc is moderately hi & crp very hi & going up. could the temps be due to his overlap myeloproliferative-myelodysplastic disorder?

Could be or infectio: He needs to be evaluated for an infection. He may be at more risk since he has the overlap syndrome.

Low temp?: Taking a persons temperature is tricky. 1. How accurate is your thermometer? Mercury is the most accurate. 2. Where are you taking temperature? Mouth (mo, armpit rectal. Last is most accurate. 3. Can also check urine temperature which is close to core temperature. Have him void into plastic cup with thermometer in it and quickly cover for 1 min. Then read temperature. Let us know what you find
