No: Transvaginal ultrasound is best used to look at structures related to uterus and ovaries. To visualize the kidntey one needs at CAT scan or MRI. Angiograms of the kidney are also used occasionally to visualize the vascular supply to a kidney lesion. The presence of hematuria should first be checked out by cystoscopy to see if there is a bladder lesion.

No: Transvaginal ultrasound is used to look inside your uterus and perhaps can see your bladder and lower pelvic structures. You will need an abdominal ultrasound to locate your kidneys, which are in your upper abdomen in the back. If you have blood in your urine, it is important to have the appropriate work up and evaluation, there are many other causes besides cancer!
