Quinsy: Quinsy is a very old fashioned name for a severe bacterial throat infection or abscess. Tonsillitis is simply an infection of the tonsils which may be viral,or caused by streptococcus or infectious mononucleosis. Quinsy throat infections were probably caused by strep but the term has not been used since the 1950's or thereabouts.

I don't know: Tonsillitis is an infection of the tonsils and quincy was a character on a tv show played by Jack Klugman. Not sure what else quincy is?

Peritonsillar Absces: Tonsillitis usually an infection of the tonsils which can be treated with oral antibiotics. Quinsy (peri tonsils abscess) on the other hand is a more serious infection which requires immediate surgical treatment. Without drainage of the abscess the airway may become obstructed. So if you suspect you gave Quinsy head to the emergency room immediately!
