Timeframe: Can take up to a year for a severe sprain to resolve to the point where pain is resolved. Could have ligamentous or cartilage injury missed on mri, consider wrist arthroscopy once evaluated by hand surgeon. Scaphoid fractures can be missed on original X-rays may want to consider repeat films. Other possibility would be regional pain syndrome so you need to follow up with appropriate physican.
