My nephew has a rash on buttocks and back of thighs. it's red and bumpy, he's 7. can it be something viral?

Hard to say: Without seeing the rash up close, it's hard to diagnose. Please make sure his doctor takes a look -- then you'll know the cause and treatment for it.

Absolutely : If your nephew did have a viral rash, the good news is that the rash usually happens after the most infectious part of the illness, the febrile part. Rashes can also be due to food or contact allergies, so be careful the rash does not spread from exposing to the allergen of choice. Allergic rashes usually respond to topical therapy
