Not unprecedented: Sometimes it takes up to a year for these to all work out depending on how invasive the surgery was.

Not uncommon: Occasionally, small fragments of bone may work through the gum tissue during the healing process. This is more common after surgical extractions and is nature’s way of reshaping the ridge (alveoloplasty).
