Sickle cell anemia: folic acid is important in the manufacturing of red blood cells and should be taken life-long in people with sickle cell disease

Yes: Folate (folic acid) will be of some help in managing this difficult illness. Folate (folic acid) deficiency is common in much of the world, especially today, and if she takes it faithfully, it will benefit her overall health and make for one less thing that can go wrong. I am glad your daughter has a thoughtful mother who can help her through her life. Best wishes.
