As : As long as you make sure the over-the-counter Folic Acid supplement you are taking is the same dose as prescribed by your doctor, it should be fine.

Folic Acid: That depends on the dose of folic acid that is needed. Folic Acid can be found in considerably higher doses in some prescription supplements than is found off the shelf or in multiple vitamins.

1.0 mg a day: As long as you take about 1.0 mg of folic acid per day, it should meet your needs. Please do see a doctor, may be at the local medical school for hydroxyurea treatment. Wish you good health!
