A member asked:

Had blood on outside of stool. normal colored stool and consistency. no pain. what could it be?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Not normal: Blood in the stool is not normal and needs to be explained. Causes can range from local irritation, anal fissure ( crack in the tissue), hemorrhoid, polyp, to cancer. Blood on the outside of the stool is more likely to be caused by a fissure or hemorrhoid. You will meed to see a health care provider to get a diagnosis.
