Stay calm: By remaining calm you create a barrier to fueling the other person's behavior and make it more likely that a good outcome will ensue. Keep doing what you are doing if you have to converse with this person.

Bipolar Disorder: Speaking loudly and irritability can be classic symptoms of hypomania. Sometimes the key issue is whether the person is being adequately treated. Sometimes, no matter how well you address the other person's behavior - their illness will still manifest. Take care.
