It is a "range": 5 is the cutoff number to consider a work up. Blood in the urine, or hematuria, is abnormal and can have multiple causes, from infections to stones to trauma and even cancer. There are people who slipp blood in their urine and a source annotate immediately found so an annual check up is warranted.
