Types of lipids: Lipids are the fat- (or oil-)soluble components of the body. There are a few types of lipids that doctors focus on: cholesterol & triglycerides. The (total) cholesterol levels are of two types - HDL (good) & LDL (bad). Triglycerides are a different lipid. LDL cholesterol & triglycerides are often found in foods or have a dietary component. HDL has a genetic correlation (& LDL as well). TTYD.

See link: Mayo Clinic explanation: Triglycerides and cholesterol are separate types of lipids that circulate in your blood. Triglycerides store unused calories and provide your body with energy, and cholesterol is used to build cells and certain hormones.
