Change in flora?: The most likely explanation of this is that the bacteria, the flora, that normally live & perform important functions in your intestine have undergone some changes. It is impossible to know why. I understand it is puzzling as to why such a change would spontaneously take place, but it often does. It is very likely normal. Drink lots of water, eat fiber, consider probiotic supplement or Activia!

Strong odor: the odor of stool is strong. That is normal. It is normal to have several BM's a day. We have what is called a gastric colic reflex that encourages to defecate after meals. This is from ancient times when we were often chased or did the chasing to get our meals. We emptied our bowels to be lighter and swifter. This reflex is stronger in some people. The GI doc is correct.
