Roughly 5-10%: Most kids who have post-op bleeding following a T&A don't need emergency intervention. If the bleeding is brisk, causes the child to vomit, or is associated with symptoms such as dizzy/weak/light-headed, then go to ER. Otherwise, call surgeon when office opens today and talk to the surgeon who did the surgery.

Post op bleeding: The estimated risk is about 4-5%. It tends to occur between 5-10 days, more common in summer months. Most cases can be treated with ice chips in mouth and bleeding stops in 10-15 minutes. Severe and recurrent bleeding requires a trip back to operating room for control of bleeding.
