Cortisol and epi: These hormones are not checked as part of routine blood work. On the other hand, it is not necessary to check them unless there is suspicion of an adrenal disorder, such as Cushings, Addison's, or pheochromocytoma. And the work up of those conditions is more complicated than just a single blood test.

If problem suspected: Cortisol and epinephrine levels are not checked routinely. If someone has low sodium and high potassium on a comprehensive metabolic panel,24 hr urine cortisol or other test may be ordered particularly if symptoms such as malaise exist (adrenal insufficiency).Hormones related to epinephrine are checked for episodes of v high blood pressure/rapid heart rate, to evaluate for pheochromocytoma (rare)
