How can you know if you have periodontal disease? if my gums don't bleed and are pink, does that mean i don't have it?

Dental check up: At a dental checkup they take x-rays to determine if you have decay or periodontal problems. Ask the dentist if you have perio disease at that time. It is a very easy question to answer for a dentist when seeing the patient, Med and Dent Hx, and current x-rays.
