YES: Bleeding is the first easily identifiable and beginning symptom gum disease. Bleeding gum is caused by neovascular genesis in the gum tissue and vasodilation of the blood vessel in order to mobilized inflammatory cells (neutrophil, lymphocyte, macrophage, etc...)to the area to combat bacteria and bacterial product. This start the destruction and is referred to as host reaction.

Bleeding gums: One of the earliest signs of gum disease, and early treatment may result in complete cure.. Gum disease is an infection/inflammation that requires professional care followed by a specific oral hygiene regimen. Please see your Dentist for an evaluation. If early onset, your Dentist should be able to help you. If more advanced, your Dentist may want you to see a gum specialist, a Periodontist.

AND OTHERS, TOO...: Yes, I agree with other doctors' answers. Besides, bleeding from the gums may be related to pregnancy or hormonal changes, blood clotting disorder or blood disease (like leukemia), infection from a tooth, or very importantly, nutritional deficiency like low Vitamin C and K. Most common reason is gum disease, so first check with a dentist, then medical doctor for blood check also.
