A member asked:

For the past 5 years, my lab test results have shown my bilirubin as high. what does that say to me?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

What bili fraction?: In all likelihood, particularly if more than 85% of your total bilirubin is unconjugated (bilirubin molecule is not attached to a protein that allows it to "dissolve" in blood) you have gilbert's syndrome. This is present in 2% of americans, who present with episodic jaundice. Often such jaundice occurs at times of stress, fever, fasting. Associated with low gluconyl transferase enzyme levels.
