Lab tests were normal including lft. bilirubin was slightly elevated at 1.5. during the first blood draw, sample was hemolyzed. i got a large bruise across middle arm. i had to return the following day to repeat. could the bruise cause the elevation?

All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Talk to the doctor who ordered the tests. Having said that, it is possible that bilirubin of 1.5 is your normal. If it stable overtime, it may suggest a benign variation called Gilbert. Wish you good health!

Is 21 umol/l Bilirubin elevated? Lab reference says yes (17 limit) but internet shows all sorts of upper limits up to 1.5 (25 umol/l) and more. All other labs normal. What is limits in North America? Zero symptoms, just regular blood work. Thx?
