Definitely: A fasting lipid panel is what is needed to get reliable numbers, especially if they are being used to risk stratify you and/or calculate your lifetime risk of heart disease. 10-12 hours of no food, but may stay hydrated morning of test with water.

Fasting lipids: Having not fasted may have affected your triglyceride level adversely, which may have raised your total cholesterol result a bit. If there's any question about the results, especially if they're abnormal, recheck fasting - first thing in the morning before eating would be ideal.
