A member asked:

My daughter is having an mri to look at her soft spot because it is still kind of big. what will the scan show?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Hopefully normal: I have seen soft spots range from tiny tiny to the diameter of a grapefruit and never found any significant problem with the brain underneath. There are genetic syndromes where this could be associated with a structural brain problem. Some with very large soft spots just need a protective helmet provided until the skull bones grow and cover the area.
