A member asked:

5yo daughter has sleepmyoclonus, has 1 ash leaf spot on waist, ped neuro ordered for plain cranial mri scan. is it safe to have mri in small children?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Yes: It is safe to have an MRI in children. Young children may be given some type of sedation or anesthesia so that they remain still during an MRI. One can choose a facility that has lots of experience doing children's sedation and children's MRI's.
