Sounds Like Gouch...: Joint pain is be caused from some sort of inflammation or inflammatory response. Whether it's secondary to a metabolic, functional or a structural problem, the proximal cause must be determined in order to appreciate any permanent relief. It sounds as though your problem may be associated with gout. To remove all doubt, have a thorough evaluation of the involved toe.
