A member asked:

Is it possible for a rectal hernia to occur? how would it be diagnosed?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Yes: It isn't called a rectal hernia. It is called a rectal prolapse. It usually only occurs in very old people, due to straining and weak pelvic muscles. If you see swollen areas around your anus, they are most likely hemorrhoids. See a doctor to get examined, and get treatment if needed. Hope this helps!
